Getting ready for Christmas

The kids were excited about Christmas this year and got stuck into the making and creating early! They wrote numerous letters and drew pictures and made lists. This one letter for Santa that Lani wrote was pretty funny because  I had never before heard her talk about a DS and I didn't even know that she knew what one was - let alone wanting one for Christmas!

So I'm not really sure why she decided to ask for one - but we thought it was pretty funny!

On the 29th November we put up our Christmas Tree. It was pretty exciting this year as we hadn't seen most of our decorations for 2 years and then we had a box of decorations that we brought back from the UK so it was exciting to see them again and remember where we got each one from! It was also fun thinking about our Christmas tree last year and how different it was going to pick one out from the Christmas tree orchard as apposed to getting it out of the shed! Fun times!

Dad's 60th Birthday

On the 26th November 1950 Dad was born. So in 2010 he turned 60!  I thought my Dad would always be young, fit and full of energy! And I guess for 60 he is still young, fit and full of energy!!!

He celebrated by going out for a feast at the Casino on Friday night with some friends and then on Saturday some of the family got together for a BBQ on Bruny Island.  The kids were almost as excited to give their presents to Grandad as he was to get them!

Nan as always cooked up the yummiest desserts and treats! YUM - I really want one now!

The kids had a good time playing around the shack and then before the party started we took them down to the beach for a walk - the weather was perfect!

I love this place. I'll let the pictures tell the story....

Dad of course cooked his only birthday lunch! Gave a little unprepared speech and cut his cake! I think he really enjoyed celebrating his 60th on Bruny.

There was plenty to keep the kids entertained so it was quite relaxing. Emily loved Bills Dogs - Trixy, Coco and Sparks. I think Sparks was her favourite!

If only Kobe and Jesse were here to be in this picture - then it would be perfect! Happy 60th Grandad!

Early Learning Sports Carnival

Leilani's school has a mini sports carnival for the younger children run by the grade 6's at the end of the year. Leilani was soooo excited about it and couldn't wait. They started on the Top Green playing some games with the parachute. Check out the view - it's just beautiful up there and it was a gorgeous day which made it even better!

They then moved down to the Bottom Green where they had some running races, sack races and egg and spoon races! It was hilarious to watch as some kids were kind of waiting for the others to catch up, not really knowing what was going on and some were really running their hearts out knowing they were in a 'race'!! One little boy ran straight through the finish line and just kept on going - it was very funny!

Leilani came 1st in her running race and 2nd in the sack race and egg and spoon race! She was so proud!

After the races they had a bit of an obstacle course set up which the kids had fun on going around and around! Emily even jumped in here and had a bit of a go!

Our little girl is growing up!
